Making Landscape 1778 - 2016

 

 

The museum’s art collection is represented in a new exhibition, on the lower ground floor.

Animals and Us exhibition

A new interactive, family exhibition is now open at Bolton Museum – with a tiny mouse as star of the show.

Leopold, the inquisitive mouse, has been designed by Chorlton illustrator Anna Violet and is the mascot for Animals and Us.

He will guide visitors through the exhibition, showing them how all animals – from insects to elephants – are an important part of our everyday lives.

The Smithills Hall Story exhibition

This fantastic new exhibition will tell the story of Smithills Hall through the ages and the people who lived and worked there. Smithills Hall has been the centre of local life for over 700 years. During this session, children practise their reading and make a craft around the story they read.

These sessions are used to help children improve on their literacy, it encourages creativity through crafts and allows children to learn simple BSL. We encourage children to read and want to provide them with a larger range of reading materials. With the reading reward children are given a book to take home and keep every two weeks.
